Daily Independent , Babangida Foundation Others Honour FCCPC, Name Commission Agency of the Year
The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) is attracting more plaudits from media organisations and industry stakeholders for its “exemplary work” in promoting fair competition and championing consumers rights in 2026.
The scrolls of honour came from Daily Independent Newspaper, NaijaTimes, Aisha Ibrahim Babangida Foundation and BrandXchange.
Presenting the award of “Institutional Integrity & Public Service Award” to Mr Tunji Bello, FCCPC Executive Vice Chancellor/CEO, at a brief ceremony in Abuja today, NaijaTimes Publisher/Editor-In-Chief, Mr Ehi Braimah, said the honour was in recognition of the commission’s role “in advancing consumer welfare, promoting competitive markets and encouraging responsible business conduct across Nigeria’s economic landscape”.
NaijaTimes is published by NaijaTimes Journalism Foundation.

Braimah was accompanied to the ceremony by Mr James Akpadem, the Editorial Board Chairman of NaijaTimes, and Mr. Toby Prince, the editor.
Responding, Mr Bello thanked NaijaTimes for the honour, assuring that it would serve as an incentive for the Commission to rededicate itself to its vision and mission.

“We are encouraged that our work is attracting attention and recognition from different quarters. For us, what counts more is the difference we make in the lives of consumers and in the integrity of the marketplace. These recognitions challenge us to do more, strengthen our resolve and remain focused on building markets where businesses can compete fairly and consumers are treated justly,” Bello said.
On hand to support Bello at the event held at FCCPC corporate headquarters in Abuja was Mr. Louis Odion (FCCPC Executive Commissioner of Operations), Hajia Ummusalma Isiaku Rabiu (FCCPC Executive Commissioner of Corporate Services), as well as all the directors of the Commission.
Also announced today is the nomination of FCCPC for the “Regulator of the Year 2026” by Daily Independent newspapers.
The newspaper saluted the Commission for its “doggedness” in pursuing its mandate.
Earlier in the week, the Women Enterprise Alliance under the auspices of the Aisha Babangida Foundation shortlisted FCCPC for the award of the “Regulatory Body of the Year Award”.
In the citation, the body stated that the honour is to celebrate “not only the Commission’s regulatory mandate, but also the broader impact of effective regulation in strengthening enterprise confidence, market participation and sustainable economic development.”
In its own release, BrandXchange said the award of “Citizen-centric MDA of the Year (Federal)” in 2026 to FCCPC was in “recognition of your exemplary service, outstanding achievements, and unwavering commitment to excellence.”
