Ghana Police Arrest Three Nigerians Over Series of Armed Robberies
Police authorities in Ghana have arrested three Nigerians in connection with a series of armed robberies targeting bank customers in the Kumasi metropolis and surrounding communities.
The suspects, identified as Aboy Promise, 30; Favour Uwalaka, 45; and Kingsley, alias KC, 35, were arrested in separate operations following intelligence gathered by the police.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command confirmed the development in a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by the Head of the Public Affairs Unit, Superintendent Godwin Ahianyo.
According to the command, the breakthrough followed a targeted intelligence-led operation carried out by a specialised police unit.

“On 31st October 2026, at about 11:30pm, an IGP’s Special Team, comprising personnel from the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit of the CID Headquarters and the Accra Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (PID), acting on intelligence, embarked on an operation to apprehend these suspects,” Ahianyo stated.
He explained that the initial raid on a hotel at Moshie Zongo resulted in the arrest of 30-year-old Aboy Promise and 45-year-old Favour Uwalaka.

A search of their hotel rooms reportedly led to the recovery of GH₵1,600.00 in cash, several mobile phones, a Royal motorbike and a master key allegedly used to break into vehicles.
The police said that during interrogation, the two suspects confessed to the crimes and identified two accomplices, Kingsley, alias KC, and Chinedu, alias Alhaji.
The information enabled operatives to track down 35-year-old Kingsley at another hotel in Dechemso, a suburb of Kumasi, where he was arrested.
However, the fourth suspect, Chinedu, remains at large.
Explaining the modus operandi of the syndicate, the police stated:
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the syndicate monitored banking premises, identified customers who withdrew substantial sums of money and trailed them before attacking and robbing them. They also broke into unattended vehicles belonging to bank customers using a master key to steal cash kept inside.”
The command disclosed that the suspects confessed to carrying out multiple operations across the region.
One of the incidents involved the robbery of a bank customer of GH₵15,000.00 at Asokore Mampong on October 27, shortly after the victim withdrew money from Kwamang Rural Bank.
The gang also allegedly admitted responsibility for similar attacks outside the Atonsu branch of Fidelity Bank and the Ahodwo branch of Access Bank.
All three suspects have been transferred to the Ashanti Regional Police Command to assist with ongoing investigations, while security operatives continue the search for the fleeing accomplice.
“The command is appealing to the general public to volunteer any credible information that could lead to his arrest,” the statement added.
The police also urged bank customers to remain vigilant and avoid leaving large sums of money unattended in their parked vehicles.
