Qatar Orders Iranian Military, Security Officials to Leave Over Alleged Hostile Actions

Qatar has expelled Iranian military and security attachés, declaring them persona non grata and ordering them to leave the country within 24 hours, as diplomatic tensions between both nations escalate.

In a formal communication sent to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Qatari authorities also instructed all personnel associated with the attaché offices to exit the country within the same deadline.
The decision was made known during a meeting in Doha between the Director of Protocol at Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ibrahim Yousif Fakhro, and Iran’s ambassador to Qatar, Ali Salehabadi.
According to the ministry, the action was taken in response to what it described as “repeated targeting” and “blatant aggression” by Iran, which it said infringed on Qatar’s sovereignty and national security.
The statement further accused Iran of violating international law, including obligations linked to United Nations Security Council resolutions, and disregarding the principles of good neighbourliness.
Qatar cautioned that any continuation of such hostile actions could lead to additional diplomatic and security responses, emphasizing its resolve to protect its national interests.
Authorities also reaffirmed that Qatar retains the right to take all necessary measures, in line with international law, to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
