The Kano State Hisbah Board has disclosed that it arrested more than 600 individuals across the state during the recent Sallah celebrations for various offences, including indecent dressing and other immoral acts, while also rescuing and reuniting 66 missing children with their families.

Deputy Commander General of the Board, Dr. Mujahiddin Aminuddin, made this known to Daily Trust on Monday, explaining that the arrests were part of efforts to uphold morality and preserve cultural values throughout the festivities.
He noted that over 9,500 Hisbah operatives were deployed across Kano to monitor activities during the Sallah period.
According to him, those arrested included 275 youths for “indecent barbing,” 85 tricycle operators for conveying female passengers beside them, 21 individuals for wearing short knickers, and 286 women for indecent dressing.
“A local government chairman was also apprehended in a hotel with children without parental consent. We later contacted their parents, reunited them, and subsequently released them,” he added.
Aminuddin further disclosed that other cases handled by the board involved a couple allegedly engaged in violent thuggery, a youth accused of providing accommodation for adultery and sodomy, a trader suspected of storing weapons for thugs, and a sorcerer who reportedly conducted a marriage without the consent of the lady’s family.
He added that the board successfully reunited 66 lost children with their parents and dispersed a group of youths attempting to organize a party in Sabon Gari.
The Deputy Commander emphasized that Sallah should serve as a period for spiritual reflection and seeking forgiveness, rather than engaging in activities that contradict Islamic teachings.
“All these actions go against our culture and traditions. We are warning event centre operators not to host programs that violate our values, as Hisbah will not tolerate such. We also urge the public to assist by reporting misconduct so we can help maintain order in Kano,” he said.
