Troops operating under Operation MESA have apprehended two individuals suspected of serving as logistics couriers for terrorist groups along the Obajana–Kabba road in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The arrests were made in the early hours of April 20, following credible intelligence regarding the movement of persons believed to be transporting materials to support terrorist activities.
According to security sources, troops from the 12 Brigade set up a snap checkpoint at RA Oshokoshoko, where they intercepted a vehicle traveling from Makurdi to Obajana with the suspects onboard.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a sack containing 314 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and three AK-47 magazines, which were concealed behind the driver’s seat.
Additional items recovered from the suspects include two mobile phones, a driver’s licence, a National Identification Number (NIN) slip, and an identity card.
The suspects are currently in military custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine their level of involvement and any possible links to terrorist networks.
