Tension As Gunmen Raid Nasarawa Students’ Hostel, Abduct Seven In Akwanga

Gunmen have abducted six students of Nasarawa State University, Gudi Campus, after attacking an off-campus hostel in Anguwar Ninzo, located in Akwanga Local Government Area of the state.


The incident reportedly occurred around 9 p.m. on Wednesday night, according to the spokesperson of the Nasarawa State Police Command, SP Rahman Nansel.
The abducted students are all from the Faculty of Engineering of the university’s Gudi Campus. During the raid, another individual who was present at the lodge was also kidnapped, bringing the total number of abductees to seven.
Following the attack, the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Shetima Mohammed, visited the scene to assess the situation and assured students, residents, and the university community that security operatives are working to ensure the safe return of the victims.
Security agencies, including the police, Department of State Services (DSS), military, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), vigilante groups, and other tactical teams, have commenced a coordinated rescue operation.
The Area Commander in Akwanga has also been redeployed to oversee and coordinate field operations in the area.
Nansel stated that the operation is focused on tracking down the kidnappers, rescuing the victims unharmed, and ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice.
