TENSION: Man Gunned down At APC Primaries Venue in Plateau State

A resident of Kasuwan Ali Community in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, identified as Sani Abdullahi, has reportedly lost his life during the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the House of Representatives seat.

Eyewitnesses disclosed that the incident occurred following unrest linked to delays in the commencement of the exercise.
One of the residents, Ibrahim Sale, explained that the primary election, which had been scheduled for Saturday morning, could not begin due to the absence of returning officers. According to him, the delay angered some party members and youths, who accused organisers of deliberately stalling the process.
Sale stated that government officials who arrived at the venue to observe the exercise later attempted to leave because electoral officers were still absent. However, some youths reportedly blocked the road, insisting that the officials remain until the primary election commenced.
He added that the protest attracted security personnel who moved in to disperse the crowd. During the confrontation, some youths allegedly hurled stones at the operatives, prompting soldiers to open fire. A stray bullet was said to have struck the victim.
The development reportedly caused panic and confusion within the community, with residents condemning the killing and urging authorities to launch a full investigation and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
