BREAKING: Former Delta Governor Ifeanyi Okowa defeats Senator Ned Nwoko in the Delta North APC senatorial primary with a massive landslide victory ahead of the 2027 elections.
Former Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election for Delta North Senatorial District.
Okowa defeated incumbent Senator Ned Nwoko by a wide margin in the direct primary election conducted across the district.
According to the results announced at the end of the exercise, Okowa secured 113,309 votes, while Nwoko garnered 2,612 votes. Another aspirant, Maryam Alli, polled 40 votes.
The results also highlighted Okowa’s dominance at the ward level, especially in Ute-Okpu Ward 9 in Ika North East Local Government Area, where he recorded 6,922 votes against Nwoko’s three votes.
The exercise in the ward was monitored by a representative of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mrs. Kristana Mungi.
The outcome marks a major political comeback for the former governor, who joined the APC less than a year ago alongside Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and members of the Peoples Democratic Party structure in the state.
Okowa’s victory is expected to significantly influence the political dynamics in Delta North ahead of the 2027 general elections, following his decisive defeat of the sitting senator.
