By Our Reporter
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has been elected as the presidential candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) for the 2027 general election.
The affirmation exercise, conducted by the 37 state chairmen of the Allied People’s Movement on Saturday, confirmed the election of the Oyo State governor in Ibadan, the state capital.
Speaking on the development, the Chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, said Governor Makinde was chosen because of his humanitarian efforts and infrastructural development achievements over the past three years, noting that Nigerians desire similar progress at the federal level.
He described Governor Makinde as a political warrior who has governed Oyo State without fear, favour, or distraction.
Dantalle called on the people of Oyo State, the South-West region, and Nigerians at large to support Makinde, describing him as a compassionate leader capable of addressing the country’s persistent insecurity and worsening economic situation.
He added that Governor Makinde has recorded significant achievements across various sectors and urged citizens seeking positive change to vote for him as Nigeria’s President in 2027.
The high point of the event was the presentation of the certificate of return to the APM presidential candidate and Oyo State Governor, Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde.
