Passenger Restrained After Allegedly Trying to Open Plane Door During Flight

A local commercial flight in the United States travelling from San Juan to Chicago was forced to make an emergency diversion to Miami after a passenger allegedly attempted to open an emergency exit door while the aircraft was in the air.


According to a report by The Guardian on Wednesday morning, June 3, 2026, the incident occurred mid-flight when the Frontier Airlines passenger became disruptive and reportedly tried to force open the exit door, causing concern among passengers and crew members on board.

The report stated that crew members, with assistance from fellow passengers, quickly intervened and restrained the individual.
Following the incident, the pilots declared an emergency and diverted the aircraft to Miami International Airport, where it landed safely.
The passenger was subsequently handed over to authorities upon arrival.
No injuries were recorded during the incident, and the flight later resumed its journey to its original destination after the situation had been resolved.
