Anambra Cracks Down: Pastor Accused of Marrying 75 Women Arrested

The Anambra State Government has confirmed the arrest of Pastor Harrison Charles, founder of Day Spring Assembly in Awada, Onitsha.


The State Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr. Law Mefor, disclosed that the cleric was arrested by operatives of the state security outfit, Agunechemba, and is currently in custody.
Pastor Charles is accused of allegedly attracting 75 women into his church and subsequently taking them as wives.
Prior to his arrest, several allegations against the pastor had circulated on social media platforms and WhatsApp groups.
He is also alleged to have encouraged wife-swapping among members of his congregation and to have taken the wives of other men as his own.
Dr. Mefor stated that investigations have commenced to determine the authenticity of the allegations levelled against the cleric.
According to him, “If the allegations are verified, he will be charged to court for prosecution.”
The commissioner appealed to residents of the state, especially members of Pastor Charles’ church, to remain calm and maintain peace while investigations continue.
With his arrest, Pastor Charles becomes the ninth pastor apprehended by the Anambra State Government within the last three weeks over alleged questionable religious practices.
