Tension in Kebbi as gunmen abduct APC chairman’s wife, son
The Kebbi State Police Command has launched a manhunt for armed men who abducted the wife and son of a political party chairman in Yauri Local Government Area of the state.
Police sources disclosed that the incident occurred at about 4:00 a.m. on June 22, when unidentified gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, stormed the residence of Alhaji Yusuf Sani Alhassan, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yauri LGA.
The attackers reportedly invaded the chairman’s residence in the Low Cost Area of Yauri and abducted his wife, Nana Aisha Yusuf, 35, and his son, Sanusi Yusuf, 25.
According to sources, the assailants, armed with dangerous weapons, took the victims to an unknown location.
Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer mobilised a combined team of police operatives and local vigilantes to the scene.
However, before security personnel arrived, the suspects had reportedly escaped into a nearby bush with the abducted victims.
Police authorities said efforts were ongoing to rescue the victims unharmed and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
The command assured residents that further updates would be provided as investigations and rescue operations continue.
