Swift Police Response Saves 18 Corps Members in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has rescued 18 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who were stranded at night after their vehicle developed a fault in a notorious kidnapping hotspot in the state.

The General Manager of Fresh FM Lagos, Taiwo Akinsola, popularly known as Omobabaolowo Woli ni Ilasamaja, commended the police for their prompt and proactive response. His commendation was contained in a letter addressed to the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni.
The letter, made available to journalists on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, stated that the incident occurred on June 30 when the corps members became stranded in a vulnerable location and contacted the police for assistance. According to Akinsola, the area is widely known as a hotspot for kidnappers and other criminal activities, making the situation particularly dangerous.
He said the police responded immediately to the distress call, secured the area, safely evacuated all 18 corps members to Ijebu Ode, and provided them with hotel accommodation. Akinsola praised the professionalism, courage, and vigilance of the officers, noting that their timely intervention prevented what could have become a national tragedy.
He described the operation as a clear demonstration of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, adding that the rescued corps members and their families remain grateful. Akinsola also commended the Divisional Police Officer and the patrol team for their decisive action, saying their swift response has strengthened public confidence in the police and reassured citizens that help is available when needed.
