Midnight Horror: 31 Feared Dead in Kaduna Community Attack

The attackers reportedly moved from house to house, shooting residents and setting properties ablaze, leaving at least 31 people dead in Kamaru Village, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.


According to the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ), the assailants stormed the community around midnight on Monday, firing at residents and burning several shops as well as a residential building during the attack.

A former councillor of Kamaru Ward and indigene of the community, Jacob Nera, confirmed that the death toll had risen to 31. He said residents were still searching for missing persons and could not immediately determine whether anyone had been abducted. Nera described the incident as the first attack of its kind on the village, adding that the motive behind the assault remains unknown.
As of the time of filing this report, the Kaduna State Police Command and other security agencies had not issued any official statement on the attack.
