Emir of Daura Makes History, Installs Dr. Sulaiman Ibrahim PD as First Sarkin Filayen Kasar Hausa

The Emir of Daura has made history with the installation of Dr. Sulaiman Ibrahim PD as the first Sarkin Filayen Kasar Hausa, a newly conferred traditional title focused on land and property affairs.

Dr. PD was formally presented with the title on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the palace of the Emir of Daura in Katsina State, during a ceremony attended by traditional rulers, government officials, business leaders, academics, professionals, community leaders and other dignitaries.

The event was characterised by prayers, goodwill messages and cultural celebrations, as guests gathered to witness the historic conferment.

Emirate: Title Comes With Responsibility

The Daura Emirate said the decision to honour Dr. PD followed extensive consultations and assessment of his character, integrity, professional competence and contributions to the land and property sector.

The Emirate explained that the title was not created merely as a ceremonial honour, but as a position carrying responsibilities to the wider community.

As the first holder, Dr. PD is expected to promote transparency and fairness in land administration, protect the legitimate interests of citizens and encourage better relationships among landowners, tenants, estate agents, professionals and government authorities.

The Emirate also urged him to use the position to promote responsible land administration and public awareness across Hausaland and Nigeria.

Dr. PD: “This Is a Call to Service”

Expressing appreciation for the honour, Dr. Sulaiman Ibrahim PD thanked the Emir of Daura and members of the Emirate for the confidence reposed in him.

He said the title represented a call to greater service, integrity and sacrifice, rather than personal prestige.

Dr. PD pledged to collaborate with government institutions, professional bodies and other stakeholders to address challenges affecting the land and property sector.

He identified fraudulent land transactions and the activities of individuals who exploit unsuspecting citizens as issues that require stronger collective action.

He also called for increased public enlightenment, urging Nigerians to follow appropriate legal procedures when purchasing land or conducting property transactions.

According to him, proper verification and documentation remain essential safeguards against property-related disputes and fraud.

The new Sarkin Filayen Kasar Hausa called for stronger cooperation between traditional institutions, government agencies, professionals, estate agents, landowners and the general public.
