Senator Samuel Anyanwu, former National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has withdrawn his suit on PDP secretaryship, acknowledging that the matter has been overtaken by events.

In line with a recent court judgment and principles of equity, justice, and the rule of law, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally recognised the authentic leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and invited them to its quarterly strategic engagement with political parties.
The invitation, issued on Wednesday, was addressed to the PDP Caretaker Committee, chaired by Abdulrahman Mohammed with Senator Samuel Anyanwu as Secretary. INEC’s recognition affirms them as the genuine leadership of the party.
According to the electoral body, the decision adheres strictly to the prevailing court ruling and established procedures for engaging registered political parties. INEC emphasised that the move reflects its commitment to due process, neutrality, and adherence to the rule of law in executing its statutory responsibilities.
Political observers and party members view this development as a critical step toward restoring stability and clarity within the PDP after months of leadership disputes and legal challenges. With INEC’s recognition, the PDP is expected to strengthen its internal structures and strategically position itself for upcoming national political engagements.
Party supporters have hailed the decision as a win for democracy and internal party justice, expressing optimism that the PDP will emerge more united and resilient as calls for “power to the people” continue to resonate within the party.
