By Ekuson Nw’Ogbunka ,Abuja
Pastor Ifeanyi Isaac, the CEO and Chief Coach of JK Football Academy, Abuja, Nigeria, has appealed to the Nigerian government to support Nigerian-born international footballers like Goodwill Chiwendu.
JK Football Academy is an affiliate of a top-notch academy in Turkey that has produced several top players.
Ifeanyi made the call during a press conference, urging the NFF, Ministry of Sports, President Ahmed Tinubu, and the Legislative Arms of the Government to do everything within their power to elevate Nigerian footballers playing abroad.
Chiwendu, who currently plays for KC Besa in Albania, is one of several Nigerian players nurtured by JK Football Academy who have gone on to play for top clubs abroad.
Ifeanyi praised Chiwendu’s skills, saying he is a “very special striker” with a “Lion Heart” who is “deadly when he’s on the box”.
The JK Football Academy boss called on the NFF and the Ministry of Sports to look into Chiwendu’s case and other talented Nigerian players abroad.
He also urged the government to support local football academies like JK Football Academy, saying they have the potential to contribute to the economy.
Ifeanyi cited examples of Nigerian footballers who have invested in the country and are giving back to the community.
He appealed to senators to sponsor young players and help them develop their talents.
The academy has produced several players who are currently playing for top clubs abroad, including a recent signing with Kepsa in Kosovo.
Ifeanyi emphasized that investing in young footballers is a worthwhile investment for the country’s future.
He called on the government to make laws that support young talents and football academies in Nigeria.
