Frequent Crashes: FRSC Boss Deploys Tactical Team to AYA–Nyanya Expressway
In a proactive move to safeguard lives and restore order on one of the Federal Capital Territory’s busiest transport corridors, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mallam Shehu Mohammed, has ordered the immediate deployment of a high-level tactical team to the AYA–Nyanya Expressway following a series of troubling road traffic crashes along the route.
The team, led by the Assistant Corps Marshal, Operations, Olusegun Ogungbemide, has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive, on-the-spot assessment of the causes of the recurring crashes and recommending prompt, evidence-based corrective measures.
Speaking on the development, the Corps Marshal said the intervention further underscores the Corps’ commitment to proactive road safety management, intelligence-driven enforcement, and the protection of lives and property, rather than reacting after tragedies occur.
He noted that the management is taking firm, forward-looking steps to identify systemic risks, eliminate hazards, and strengthen operational presence on critical routes.
According to him, the AYA–Nyanya corridor, as a major gateway into the nation’s capital, requires focused strategic attention, and the deployment reflects a zero-tolerance stance against avoidable road crashes.
He added that the initiative is also a key part of the ongoing Eid-el-Fitr Special Patrol operations aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow, reducing travel time, and promoting safer journeys for millions of Nigerians during the festive period.
Mallam Shehu Mohammed emphasized that the Corps is reinforcing its dual approach of enforcement and prevention, delivering real-time solutions to emerging road safety challenges.
The Corps Marshal reiterated that road safety is a shared responsibility and urged all road users—drivers, commuters, and pedestrians—to cooperate fully with the tactical team and strictly obey traffic regulations.
He assured the motoring public that the Corps will continue to adopt innovative strategies, deploy resources effectively, and respond swiftly to emerging threats to public safety.
