Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), in a decisive and tactical operation in Rano, successfully rescued the Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Area of Kano State who had been abducted by bandits.

The Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Council was reportedly kidnapped at his residence in Kibiya some days ago by armed assailants who later demanded a ransom of N100 million as a condition for his release.
Security sources disclosed that the kidnappers allegedly tracked the victim using insider information provided by a resident of the area.
It was further gathered that the abductors were believed to have originated from Rijana, a location reportedly associated with criminal activities along the Kaduna–Abuja axis.
However, a security source revealed that acting on credible intelligence, DSS operatives identified the kidnappers’ hideout in Rano and launched a coordinated raid in the early hours of Tuesday, March 24, 2026. During the operation, a gun battle ensued between security forces and the suspected kidnappers.
The DSS team successfully rescued the victim alive, while two of the kidnappers were arrested after the exchange of gunfire.
It was also gathered that two other suspects escaped with gunshot wounds and are currently being tracked by security operatives.
Sources further stated that the rescued Secretary is in stable condition and is receiving medical attention before being reunited with his family.
