Man allegedly kills elder brother over dream shooting — police
A 43-year-old man has been arrested by police for allegedly killing his elder brother, Mustapha Amidu, after accusing him of shooting him in a dream.
The development was disclosed in a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, on Wednesday in Ibadan.
According to the statement, the tragic incident was reported at the Ago-Amodu Divisional Police Headquarters by one Badmus Yunisa of Alegunlode Compound in the Sepeteri area of Oyo State.
“The suspect reportedly approached the deceased while he was seated, picked up a heavy stone, struck him on the head and immediately fled the scene,” Olayinka said.
He added that the victim was quickly taken to Ileri Oluwa Hospital, Sepeteri, where the doctor on duty confirmed him dead.
Olayinka further explained that upon receiving the report, a team of police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of Ago-Amodu Division visited both the crime scene and the hospital as part of preliminary investigations.
“The suspect has been apprehended and has confessed to the offence. He is presently cooperating with investigators,” he stated.
The police spokesperson also said the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, directed that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for thorough and discreet investigation.
The commissioner assured members of the public that the case would be diligently prosecuted in line with the law.
