ADC Alleges Pressure as Event Centre Cancels National Convention Booking
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has revealed that the Rainbow Event Centre has cancelled its booking for the party’s National Convention scheduled to hold on Tuesday (today).
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, made this known late Monday via his X (formerly Twitter) handle.
According to Abdullahi, information available to the party indicates that the cancellation followed alleged pressure from the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, alongside the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA). He claimed that the event centre was threatened with revocation of its licence if it allowed the ADC to use the venue.
He stated: “After paying all the required fees and completing preparations for our convention tomorrow, the owner of Rainbow Event Centre has just informed us that he has come under pressure from the FCDA and the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, that if he permits the ADC to use his facility, his licence will be revoked.”
Despite the development, the ADC spokesperson maintained that the party would proceed with its convention at the same venue, citing an already signed agreement with the facility owner.
Abdullahi added: “We have already signed a contract with him. We will go ahead with our convention tomorrow as planned at the Rainbow Event Centre. We will not bow to this creeping tyranny, and certainly not to this petty tyrant. ADC is rising, Nigeria is rising.”
