Bandits attack Shiroro communities, three killed in security clash
The Niger State Police Command has confirmed an attack by armed bandits in parts of Shiroro Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed the incident, said the attack occurred on Tuesday, April 7, at about 6:30 a.m., when suspected bandits invaded Bagna village before moving on to Erena village.
Abiodun revealed that two members of a vigilante group and a driver attached to the joint security team lost their lives during an encounter with the bandits, while some other security personnel sustained injuries.
The police spokesman added that security operatives are still monitoring the situation, noting that calm is gradually returning to the affected communities.
He assured residents that efforts are ongoing to ensure the safety of lives and property in the area.
