Dr Kashim Akor Throws Hat into Kogi East Senate Ring, Seeks APC Ticket for 2027

Former Director General of the National Productivity Centre (NPC), Dr Kashim Akor, NPOM, FNIM, has officially declared his intention to contest for the Kogi East Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).


Dr Akor, a seasoned technocrat, academic and accomplished administrator, rose through the ranks to become the Director General of the National Productivity Centre, Abuja, where he distinguished himself through impactful leadership and service delivery.
A native of Ejegbo in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State, Dr Akor is widely regarded as one of the prominent sons of Kogi East with a track record of community development and public service.
He led the affairs of the National Productivity Centre for eight consecutive years, during which he facilitated employment opportunities for thousands of Kogites and Nigerians. He also championed several empowerment and capacity-building initiatives for indigenes of Kogi State and citizens across the country.
Among his notable interventions were the installation of solar street lights in tertiary institutions including Prince Abubakar Audu University, Federal Polytechnic Idah, and the College of Education, Ankpa. He also donated computers to secondary schools, Kogi State Polytechnic, Kogi State University, and the Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa.
Dr Akor further initiated the installation of solar street lights across Ankpa, Anyigba in Dekina Local Government Area, and several other communities within Kogi East.
In the health sector, he donated hospital equipment to Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, a gesture that significantly contributed to the upgrade of the university clinic.
Currently serving as a member of the Industrial Arbitration Panel (IAP), Abuja, Dr Akor has handled and arbitrated numerous matters affecting both the public and private sectors.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, he is also a respected community leader. He holds the traditional title of Omachi Atta Igala, Otunba Gbeluniyi of Ilaro, and is equally a title holder in Olamaboro Local Government Area.
His contributions have earned him several recognitions, including an award of honour from the Ankpa Elders Forum for his meritorious service to the community and the nation. Prince Abubakar Audu University also recently honoured him with a meritorious service award during its last combined convocation ceremony in Anyigba.
