FG: U.S. Embassy Staff Departure in Abuja Is Routine, Not a Reflection of Nigeria’s Security

The Federal Government has explained that the recent advisory by the United States authorising the departure of non-essential embassy personnel in Abuja is a routine precaution guided by internal procedures.


The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated that the move should not be interpreted as a reflection of Nigeria’s overall security situation.
He assured citizens and international stakeholders that public institutions across the country continue to function normally, with no disruption to governance, economic activities, or everyday life.
The Minister added that ongoing security efforts—supported by military operations, intelligence-driven strategies, and collaboration among agencies—are delivering measurable results in affected areas.
According to him, these interventions have weakened criminal networks, lowered threats, and enhanced safety in vulnerable communities, while the majority of the country remains stable.
He further reiterated that Nigeria remains open for business, travel, and investment, and called on international partners to provide balanced and current reports.
