Amaechi dismisses VP rumours, insists he remains loyal to ADC

Former Rivers State Governor and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has reaffirmed that he remains a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), dismissing rumours linking him to a vice-presidential ticket.

Amaechi made the clarification on Wednesday during his first interview since the ADC presidential primaries in an exclusive session with media entrepreneur Chude Jideonwo on #WithChude.
“I stand by what I said about ‘concocted results’. But I am still a member of the ADC. No one has asked me to be VP,” Amaechi stated.
The former presidential aspirant, who celebrated his 61st birthday a day earlier at his Abuja residence, addressed speculations surrounding his political future, his relationship with political figures including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, David Mark, as well as his assessment of the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Amaechi had earlier criticised the ADC presidential primary process, describing the outcome as “concocted” and questioning the credibility of the exercise. During the #WithChude interview, he maintained his position, explaining that his comments were directed at the process and not his loyalty to the party.
The full interview is expected to air on the #WithChude platform and will also feature Amaechi’s views on betrayal, friendship with Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka, marriage, and why he believes he differs from politicians motivated mainly by personal interests.
Amaechi lost the ADC presidential ticket to Dumebi Kachikwu, a result he rejected immediately after the primaries.
