Residents In Fear After Armed Men Invade Ijebu-Ode Estate, Kidnap Three
Suspected bandits on Monday attacked a residential estate in the Ijebu-Ode area of Ogun State, abducting three members of the same family.
The incident was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi.
Reports indicated that about 15 armed men stormed Ipojo Golden Estate located in the Oke-Eri area around 7 p.m. The attackers, said to be carrying sophisticated weapons, reportedly forced their way into the residence, searched the house, and abducted the victims.
The head of the family, Yesiru Badewa, was reportedly away on official duty when the incident happened.
Reacting to the abduction, Badewa expressed deep concern, especially over the health condition of one of the kidnapped victims.
“This has devastated us. One of those abducted is sick, and we are worried her condition may deteriorate in captivity. We appeal to the authorities and kind-hearted Nigerians to come to our aid,” he said.
Speaking on the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police Oluseyi Babaseyi, stated that the command had intensified tactical and intelligence operations aimed at rescuing the victims and arresting those responsible.
He urged residents to remain calm while reaffirming the commitment of the Ogun State Police Command to combating kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.
“The Ogun State Police Command is aware of the incident at Ipojo Golden Estate, Oke-Eri, Ijebu-Ode, and has intensified tactical and intelligence operations to rescue the victims and apprehend the perpetrators,” he said.
“The command remains proactive and committed to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.”
