Security operatives on Thursday night arrested Bello Bodejo, President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore and an aspirant for the Taraba Central Senatorial seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC), shortly after he addressed supporters in Jalingo, Taraba State capital.

Bodejo had earlier arrived in Jalingo aboard a private jet through the Danbaba Suntai Airport around 1:20 p.m. He was welcomed by a large crowd of supporters from the five local government areas within the Taraba Central senatorial district.
Speaking in a telephone interview with Daily Trust, Bodejo’s personal aide, Umar, disclosed that the APC aspirant was arrested after visiting some security agencies’ offices with close political associates.
According to Umar, the arrest occurred at one of the security offices shortly after Bodejo addressed supporters at the APC state secretariat in Jalingo.
He explained that the associates who accompanied Bodejo were immediately asked to leave while the APC chieftain was detained.
“At the moment, we do not know where he has been taken to,” Umar said.
“The same security personnel who escorted and protected him from Abuja to Jalingo were the ones who later arrested him.
“We have not been informed about the reason for his arrest, and our major concern now is that we do not know where he is being held,” he added.
Before his arrest, Bodejo had told journalists at the APC secretariat that he had obtained the senatorial nomination form and would not step down for any other aspirant.
He maintained that he remained fully committed to the race and would resist any pressure to withdraw.
“I am in this race to win, and nobody is going to force me to step down,” he declared.
Bodejo also revealed that the consensus committee reportedly established by Governor Agbu Kefas to meet with aspirants across the state’s three senatorial zones had not contacted him.
“The consensus committee set up by the governor has not contacted me, and let me make it clear that I will not step down for anybody, no matter the pressure,” he stated.
This is not the first time Bodejo has been arrested.
In 2024, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) arrested him over the alleged creation of a vigilante group in Nasarawa State.
He was apprehended at the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore headquarters located at Tundun Maliya Cattle Market, along the Abuja-Keffi Expressway in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Reports indicated that DSS operatives, accompanied by soldiers of the Nigerian Army, stormed the office around 3:40 p.m. and arrested him at the gate before leaving the premises.
It remains unclear whether the latest arrest is connected to politics or security-related issues.
