Hostel Horror: Seven Students Injured in Ebonyi Robbery Attack
Seven students of Ebonyi State College of Health Science and Technology, Ngbo, in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, were injured during a robbery attack by suspected gunmen at the school hostel.
Sources disclosed that the incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Tuesday when armed men reportedly broke into the students’ hostel and robbed occupants of their belongings.
It was further gathered that the school hostels lack perimeter fencing and security posts, making them vulnerable to criminal attacks.
The spokesperson of the Ebonyi State Police Command, SP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the incident in a telephone conversation, stating that police operatives were immediately mobilised after receiving information about the attack.
According to him, by the time officers arrived at the scene, the suspects had already fled into the bush. He added that the police are actively tracking the perpetrators with a view to arresting them and recovering the stolen items.
Meanwhile, the injured students are receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
As of the time of filing this report, the management of the institution had not issued any official statement regarding the incident.
Monarch’s Death: Police Arrest Six Suspects
Meanwhile, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Ebonyi State Command, have arrested six suspects in connection with the murder of HRH Eze Josephat Ikegwu, the traditional ruler of Ishinkwo Community in Onicha Local Government Area of the state.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu.
According to the statement, the arrests followed a sustained intelligence-led investigation that led operatives to the suspects.
During the operation, police also recovered one AK-47 rifle loaded with eight rounds of live ammunition.
Ukandu stated that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi State, CP Hope Okafor, reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring justice, stressing that no individual involved in criminal activities would be allowed to evade the law.
