World Blood Donor Day: First Lady Calls for Greater Voluntary Blood Donation
Nigerians have been urged to continue promoting a culture of voluntary blood donation as a way of building a healthier, more compassionate, and supportive society.
The First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, made the call in a message commemorating this year’s World Blood Donor Day. She described blood donors as true heroes whose selfless contributions provide hope and a chance of survival to people facing critical health conditions and medical emergencies.
Joining millions of people around the world in celebrating voluntary blood donors, Senator Tinubu noted that the simple act of donating blood has a profound impact on countless lives and supports the delivery of quality healthcare services across communities.
She stressed that a safe and reliable blood supply remains essential for effective healthcare delivery and encouraged more Nigerians, especially young people, to embrace voluntary blood donation as a civic responsibility.
The First Lady also commended existing blood donors for their generosity and unwavering commitment to saving lives.
