Abaji Council Distributes 90 Tonnes of Fertilizer to Boost Food Production

The Abaji Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has distributed ninety (90) tonnes of fertilizer and other farm inputs to farmers across the area as part of efforts to boost agricultural productivity and enhance food security.


Speaking during the distribution, the Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Abdullahi, encouraged youths and women to embrace farming as a productive venture capable of improving their livelihoods and ensuring food security.

Represented by the Speaker of the Council, Alhaji Abdullahi Yahaya, the Chairman also assured residents that the council is implementing measures to address the long-standing electricity challenge affecting the area.

Also speaking, the Director of the Agriculture Department, Alhaji Usman Shehu, urged beneficiaries to make proper use of the farm inputs. He warned that any farmer found selling the distributed items would have his or her name removed from the council’s farmers’ register.

One of the beneficiaries and Sarkin Noman Abaji, Alhaji Muhammadu Dangana, expressed appreciation to the Area Council for the intervention and pledged to use the farm inputs for their intended purpose.
