In a bold step to strengthen security cooperation across the continent, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has brought together African Army Chiefs and defence stakeholders for the Third African Land Forces Forum.

Speaking at the event in Port Harcourt, Lieutenant General Shaibu said the gathering reflects the collective commitment of African nations to deepen military cooperation, enhance regional security and promote lasting peace across the continent.
He explained that the forum serves as a platform for dialogue, collaboration and the exchange of experiences among African armies in addressing common security challenges.
The Army Chief emphasised that threats such as terrorism, insurgency and transnational organised crime require coordinated responses that go beyond national borders.
Drawing from Nigeria’s counter-terrorism operations, he noted that joint efforts, adaptive strategies and regional cooperation have contributed to weakening insurgent groups and reclaiming territories in the Lake Chad Basin.
Lieutenant General Shaibu expressed optimism that the forum’s deliberations would deliver practical solutions that would advance peace, stability and security across Africa.
