FCT Police Debunk Abuja Colonel Killing Report

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed reports claiming that a serving Nigerian Army officer, Colonel Abdussalam A.

Ude, was killed by gunmen in Abuja.
The reports alleged that the officer was attacked and killed by armed men in the Kurudu area of the FCT during an attempted kidnapping. They also claimed that his wife sustained gunshot injuries and is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
Reacting to the reports, the FCT Police Command, through its spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, said the incident did not occur within the Federal Capital Territory. She explained that following the circulation of the reports, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, ordered a thorough investigation to establish the true circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to the findings, the attack took place in Badna, New Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, and not within the jurisdiction of the FCT Police Command as widely reported.
The Command expressed concern over what it described as the deliberate misrepresentation of the incident by some blogs and media platforms, warning that such inaccurate reports create unnecessary panic, heighten public anxiety, and misinform residents of the nation’s capital.
To strengthen security, the Commissioner of Police has directed the immediate deployment of operational and intelligence assets to border communities adjoining the FCT and Nasarawa State. The move, the Command said, is aimed at preventing criminal elements from infiltrating the Federal Capital Territory or carrying out any criminal activities within Abuja.
