JUST IN :NECO Exam Turns Nightmare as Gunmen Kidnap School Principal, Students
Gunmen have abducted the principal of Government Secondary School, Odo-Ekina, four students and a National Examinations Council (NECO) ad hoc staff member during a NECO examination in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The Kogi State Police Command confirmed that the attack occurred at about 5:25 p.m. on Tuesday while candidates were sitting for the examination. Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, said security operatives immediately launched a coordinated search-and-rescue operation following the incident.
According to the police, one of the abducted students has since been rescued, while efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the remaining victims and apprehend the kidnappers.
The statement added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, accompanied by the Brigade Commander and the Kogi State Security Adviser to the Governor, was heading to the scene for an on-the-spot assessment. The command assured residents that security agencies remain committed to rescuing the victims, restoring calm and providing further verified updates as investigations continue.
