Shettima Takes Nigeria’s BRICS Agenda to India

Vice President Kashim Shettima is in New Delhi, India, representing President Bola Tinubu at the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit.

Nigeria is expected to use the summit to deepen its relations with BRICS countries, expand trade and investment, and attract opportunities in agriculture, technology and the digital economy.

Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, says Nigeria is particularly interested in India’s experience in leveraging technology and artificial intelligence to empower its large youth population.

Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole, says the government is working to expand Nigeria’s trade relationship with India, which has previously been valued at about fourteen billion dollars.

Vice President Shettima is expected to participate in high-level discussions and bilateral meetings focusing on trade, investment, agriculture, technology and industrial development.
