Sokoto Tension: Cleric Stabbed After Jumu’at Prayer

Tension was reported in parts of Sokoto metropolis on Friday after an Islamic cleric, Sheikh Musa Lukuwa, was stabbed shortly after leading the Jumu’at prayer.

The incident reportedly followed an accusation involving comments allegedly made by the cleric about the biological parents of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
According to sources, a man confronted Sheikh Lukuwa after the Friday prayer over the alleged remarks before attacking him with a knife.

The cleric sustained injuries in the incident and was taken to a hospital for treatment. His condition could not be independently confirmed as of the time of filing this report.

The incident later took another violent turn when some of the Sheikh’s followers reportedly confronted the alleged attacker.

The man accused of carrying out the stabbing was reportedly killed by the angry followers at the scene.
