PALM SUNDAY: THE MEANING INSIDE THE MEANING
Today is Palm Sunday, always a pleasant sight of congregants struggling for palms, designed in different forms, mostly taking the shape of cross.
They attach sacredness to it and use it as sacramental in their houses before Ash Wednesday when it would be turned in to be burnt for Ash distribution on foreheads.Beyond all these is another message that is hidden in the event of Jesus ridding on the mule, people spreading their clothes and palms for him to walk on. It showed love, acceptance, hospitality etc that has a PALM message Public Applause Lasts Momentarily
There is a deep lesson hidden in Palm Sunday that many people celebrate but few truly reflect on. That day, the streets were alive with excitement. Palm branches filled the air. Garments were spread on the road. Voices rose in celebration as Jesus Christ entered Jerusalem.“Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.”
It looked like the height of acceptance. It sounded like the triumph of honor..It felt like the world had finally recognized Him. But heaven saw something deeper.
Because only a short while later, the same city echoed with a very different cry.
Not praise.
Not hosanna.
But rejection. The Intial “Public Applause Lasted Momentarily” ==Palm
Palm Sunday therefore reveals a truth many leaders, public figures, and even ordinary people must understand:
PALM — Public Applause Lasts Momentarily. People can celebrate you today and question you tomorrow. They can sing your praise in one season and withdraw their support in another.
Applause is loud, but it is not lasting. Popularity is powerful, but it is not permanent.
Palm Sunday teaches us not to live for the noise of the crowd, but for the purpose of God.
Because if your strength comes from applause, rejection will destroy you. But if your purpose comes from God, even changing voices cannot stop your journey.
That is the wisdom of Palm Sunday. Public Applause Lasts Momentarily. 🌿
Happy Palm Sunday! Be wise else you get deceived by the applause of the public, oftentimes flattering and sadly very short lived.
