Former Nasarawa Deputy Governor Resigns NDE Role to Contest Bye-Election
Former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Silas Agara, has announced his resignation as Director General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in order to contest the forthcoming bye-election for the Nasarawa North Senatorial seat.
Agara made this known during his 54th birthday celebration hosted by the Mada Progressive Comrades Forum at his residence in Akwanga on Saturday.
The event was marked by excitement and camaraderie, as friends, family members, and political associates gathered to celebrate him, not only for attaining a new age but also in recognition of his contributions to the development of the state and the positive impact he has made on many lives.
The gathering clearly reflected that Silas Agara is widely regarded as a result-oriented leader dedicated to uplifting others.
Various speakers at the occasion praised the celebrant’s integrity and commitment to public service, while prayers were also offered for his continued success and greater impact in the coming year.
During the event, political discussions also featured prominently, as Comrade Ibrahim Maiyanga, a leader within the forum, highlighted the political benefits enjoyed by the Christian community in Nigeria under the current Muslim-Muslim ticket of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while also assuring the forum’s support for Tinubu’s second-term bid.
In his remarks, Agara expressed profound appreciation to the organizers for the honour, noting that the celebration was not just about his birthday but also about the opportunities provided by President Tinubu to advance the Renewed Hope agenda.
“As the Nasarawa North Senatorial District prepares to fill the vacancy created by the demise of late Senator Godiya Akwanshiki, I hereby announce my decision to resign from the NDE,” he said.
Agara further stated that he had undertaken wide consultations and careful deliberations ahead of his decision to contest the upcoming bye-election for the Nasarawa North Senatorial seat.
