Nollywood Rift Deepens: Yomi Fabiyi accuses Olanrewaju Omiyinka of betrayal despite years of support.
Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has spoken about a breakdown in his relationship with colleague Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, alleging that he was betrayed shortly after the latter regained his freedom.
Fabiyi disclosed that not long after Baba Ijesha’s release, an individual was allegedly sent to intimidate him—an incident he said left him shocked, hurt, and disappointed.
During the 2021 sexual assault case that led to Baba Ijesha’s conviction, Fabiyi had been one of his most outspoken supporters. He stood firmly by him at the time and even contributed to efforts aimed at appealing the judgment. After Baba Ijesha completed his prison term in 2025, Fabiyi continued to support him, believing their bond in the Yoruba film industry was rooted in mutual respect.
However, according to Fabiyi, the situation changed after Baba Ijesha’s release.
Rather than receiving appreciation, he claimed he was met with hostility. He alleged that Baba Ijesha instructed someone to threaten him in an attempt to silence him from speaking about the case. Fabiyi also referenced a music track released by Baba Ijesha, which he said intentionally omitted his name.
“The same God that witnessed Baba Ijesha’s ungratefulness is now dealing with him,” Fabiyi said. “After all I did to help him avoid a life sentence, this is how I’m repaid. Helping someone shouldn’t invite betrayal, yet here we are. Evil deeds always boomerang.”
