Shock As Gunmen Murder Jigawa ADC Aspirant Despite Receiving Ransom
Gunmen who abducted former member of the House of Representatives and governorship aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Jigawa State, Hon.
Abba Anas Adamu Laushi, have reportedly killed him despite receiving ransom payment from his family and associates.Laushi was kidnapped on Friday, May 8, 2026, along the Kaduna-Abuja highway while travelling to Abuja to purchase the ADC Expression of Interest and Nomination forms ahead of the Jigawa State governorship election.
The former lawmaker was abducted alongside another person after which the kidnappers demanded a ransom of N75 million.
Although the second victim later escaped from captivity, Hon. Abba Anas was allegedly killed by his captors even after the ransom had been paid.
Laushi represented the Birniwa, Guri and Kirikasamma Federal Constituency of Jigawa State in the House of Representatives between 2007 and 2011.
Before his death, he was contesting for the governorship ticket of the ADC in Jigawa State.
The incident has thrown his supporters and political associates into mourning, with many describing the development as painful and devastating.
They noted that the late politician was widely regarded as an effective political mobiliser who had pledged to tackle insecurity and criminal activities in Jigawa State if elected governor.
