APC Primaries: Party Unveils Senatorial Candidates, Says Some Districts Still Pending

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has released an updated list of senatorial candidates that emerged from its primaries across several states as of Thursday, May 21, 2026.

The list contains names of candidates for the three senatorial districts in many states, while some districts remain pending due to unresolved disputes, logistical concerns, zoning issues, and postponed primaries.
In Abia State, former Governor Orji Uzor Kalu emerged for Abia North, Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jr secured Abia South, while Emeka Atuma clinched Abia Central.
In Adamawa, Umaru Fintiri emerged for Adamawa North and Felix Tangwami for Adamawa South.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio was listed for Akwa Ibom North-West, alongside Aniekan Bassey for Akwa Ibom North-East and Ekong Sampson for Akwa Ibom South.
In Anambra, Nelson Onubuogu emerged for Anambra North, Kene Chiedu Ngozi Benedicta for Anambra Central, while Chibuogu Oraelusi secured Anambra South.
The APC also listed Yakubu Abdullahi for Bauchi South and Ibrahim Baba for Bauchi North.
In Bayelsa, Fidelis Agbiki emerged for Bayelsa West, Friday Kombowei Benson for Bayelsa Central, and Israel Sunny-Goli for Bayelsa East.
For Benue State, Dave Padopads-Awunah secured Benue North-West, Gabriel Suswam got Benue North-East, while Francis Agbo emerged for Benue South.
In Borno State, Kaka Shehu emerged for Borno Central, Ali Ndume for Borno South, and Tahir Monguno for Borno North.
Cross River produced Jarigbe Jarigbe for Cross River North, Oden Ewa for Cross River Central, and Asuquo Ekpenyong for Cross River South.
Former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa emerged for Delta North, while Ede Dafinone secured Delta Central and Joel-Onowakpo Thomas emerged for Delta South.
In Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole emerged for Edo North, Joseph Ikpea for Edo Central, and Ogbeide-Ihama Omoregie for Edo South.
The APC also listed Opeyemi Bamidele, Cyril Fasuyi, and Yemi Adaramodu for Ekiti Central, North, and South respectively.
Enugu State produced Osita Ngwu for Enugu West, Kelvin Chukwu for Enugu East, and Ikeje Asogwa for Enugu North.
In Gombe, Governor Inuwa Yahaya emerged for Gombe North, Mohammed Ahmed for Gombe Central, and Jerry Damara for Gombe South.
For Imo State, Alex Mbata secured Imo East, Governor Hope Uzodimma got Imo West, while Patrick Ndubueze emerged for Imo North.
Kaduna State produced Ramalan Yero for Kaduna North, Shehu Sani for Kaduna Central, and Sunday Katung for Kaduna South.
Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau emerged for Kano North, Ibrahim Shekarau for Kano Central, and Abdulrahman Kawu for Kano South.
In Kogi State, Joseph Erico emerged for Kogi East, former Governor Yahaya Bello for Kogi Central, while Sunday Karimi secured Kogi West.
Kwara State produced Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for Kwara Central, Sadiq Umar for Kwara North, and Muheebah Dankaka for Kwara South.
In Lagos, Wasiu Eshinlokun emerged for Lagos Central, Idiat Adebule for Lagos West, and Tokunbo Abiru for Lagos East.
Governor Abdullahi Sule emerged for Nasarawa North, while Faisal Shuaib secured Nasarawa West.
In Niger State, Idris Kutigi emerged for Niger South, Sani Musa for Niger East, and Sani Bello for Niger North.
Ogun State produced Governor Dapo Abiodun for Ogun East, Jimoh Ojugbele for Ogun West, and Shuaib Salisu for Ogun Central.
Gbenga Elegbeleye, Taiwo Fasoranti, and Isaacs Kekemeke emerged for Ondo North, Central, and South respectively.
In Osun State, Francis Fadahunsi emerged for Osun East, Adekunle Adeogoke for Osun Central, and Akintunde Oyebiyi for Osun.
For Oyo State, Remi Oseni secured Oyo South, while Yunusi Akintunde emerged for Oyo Central.
Plateau State produced David Barji for Plateau Central, Simon Lalong for Plateau South, and Simon Mwadkwon for Plateau North.
In Rivers State, Felix Obuah emerged for Rivers West, Allwell Onyesoh for Rivers East, and Barry Mwara for Rivers South-East.
Sokoto State produced Aliyu Wamakko for Sokoto Central, Umaru Ajiya for Sokoto East, and Ibrahim Danbaba for Sokoto South.
In Taraba State, Manu Haruna emerged for Taraba Central, while David Jimkuta secured Taraba South.
Governor Mai Mala Buni emerged for Yobe East, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan for Yobe North, and Ibrahim Bomai for Yobe South.
In Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari emerged for Zamfara West, Ikra Bilbis for Zamfara Central, and Sahabi Ya’u for Zamfara North.
Philip Aduda was listed as the APC candidate for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The party stated that senatorial districts not yet listed are either pending, inconclusive, or yet to conduct primaries because of internal disagreements, zoning controversies, logistical setbacks, and postponements.
The APC also noted that some declared candidates remain under review in line with party guidelines, while petitions arising from the primary elections continue to be considered by the party secretariat.
