Eid-el-Kabir: Federal Government announces two-day public holiday, calls for reflection, sacrifice, and national cohesion.

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28, 2026, as public holidays in celebration of Eid-el-Kabir.

The announcement was made on Monday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Magdalene Ajani.
Tunji-Ojo congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and across the world on the Eid-ul-Adha celebration, describing the festival as a period that symbolises sacrifice, obedience to God, and compassion for humanity.
He urged Nigerians to use the festive period to pray and reflect on the peace, security, and prosperity of the country.
According to the statement, “The Federal Government urges all Nigerians to use this period for prayer and sober reflection, asking for divine guidance as it continues its pursuit of peace, security, and prosperity for every citizen.”
The minister also encouraged citizens to embrace brotherhood, unity, and peaceful coexistence during the celebration.
