Benue Bench Expands as Alia Swears in Justice Christine Ende, Pledges Continued Judicial Support

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, on Wednesday swore in Hon.
The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Government House in Makurdi, marked a significant milestone in the state’s justice sector, with Governor Alia describing Justice Ende’s appointment as a major step towards enhancing the administration of justice in Benue State.
The governor noted that Justice Ende’s elevation was a recognition of her outstanding career spanning more than three decades in legal practice, judicial administration, human rights advocacy, and public service.
According to him, her extensive professional experience and track record of service have adequately prepared her for the responsibilities of the Bench.
Governor Alia highlighted Justice Ende’s previous roles at African Bank Plc, the National Human Rights Commission, and the Federal High Court, where she served as Deputy Chief Registrar and Admiralty Marshal, describing her credentials as evidence of competence, dedication, and professionalism.
He stated that her appointment has increased the number of judges in Benue State from 32 to 33, further strengthening the state’s judicial system.
The governor also pointed out that the number of female judges on the Benue Bench has now risen from 13 to 14, a development he said reflects his administration’s commitment to gender inclusion and equal opportunities in leadership positions.
Reiterating his administration’s “HE for SHE” philosophy, Alia stressed that meaningful and sustainable development can only be achieved when women are given the opportunity to contribute their knowledge, skills, and expertise to governance and nation-building.
He said the appointment of Justice Ende demonstrates the government’s resolve to promote merit, fairness, and inclusiveness across all sectors.
The governor urged the newly sworn-in judge to remain steadfast in upholding the Constitution and to carry out her judicial duties with integrity, independence, courage, and impartiality.
He emphasized that the judiciary remains the last hope of the common man and must continue to inspire public confidence through fair and unbiased dispensation of justice.
Governor Alia also commended the National Judicial Council, the Judicial Service Commission, and the leadership of the Benue State Judiciary for their contributions to the successful appointment process.
He assured the judiciary of his administration’s continued support in strengthening justice delivery, safeguarding the rule of law, and promoting an effective judicial system in the state.
The governor congratulated Justice Ende on her elevation and expressed confidence that she would make meaningful contributions to the advancement of justice and the development of the state’s judiciary.
Justice Ende’s appointment is expected to further enhance the capacity of the Benue State High Court in handling legal matters and delivering timely justice to residents of the state.
