All Set for Saturday: INEC Begins Distribution of Election Materials in Ekiti
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the distribution of sensitive election materials ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State.
The exercise took place at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) office in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, on Thursday, June 18, 2026.
The distribution process was supervised by the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Bunmi Omoseyindemi.
INEC officials assigned to the state’s 16 Local Government Areas were seen signing for and collecting materials designated for their respective councils before loading them into waiting vehicles accompanied by police escorts.
Speaking with journalists during the exercise, Omoseyindemi described the process as seamless and reaffirmed the commission’s preparedness to conduct a peaceful, credible and transparent election.
He explained that the distribution of sensitive materials commenced early and was closely monitored to ensure that all materials reached their designated locations promptly and intact.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner also urged eligible voters across the state to come out in large numbers on Saturday and perform their civic duty by voting for candidates of their choice.
