IGP Pushes Tech-Driven Policing With New DNA Forensics Centre

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to intelligence-led, technology-driven and evidence-based policing.

He made the statement during a working visit to Enugu State, where he commissioned the Centre for DNA Forensics, Criminal Investigation and Biotechnology. He described the facility as a major step towards strengthening criminal investigations and improving justice delivery.
The Police Boss commended development partners for supporting the establishment of the centre, noting that it would enhance forensic research, training and investigations into crimes such as kidnapping, terrorism, armed robbery, cybercrime, human trafficking and homicide.
Addressing officers of the Enugu State Police Command, the IGP urged them to remain professional, improve intelligence gathering, and uphold discipline, integrity and respect for human rights.
He also assured personnel of the Force’s continued commitment to improving their welfare, training and operational capacity, while reiterating the Nigeria Police Force’s zero-tolerance policy on corruption, misconduct and abuse of office.
