FCT: Tinubu Commissions Another Road in Institution and Research District

President Bola Tinubu has commissioned the newly completed Collector Road C01 and a bridge in Abuja’s Institution and Research District.

Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, the President said the completion of the project underscores the government’s determination to translate campaign promises into tangible projects that improve the lives of citizens.
Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining infrastructure development in cities, satellite towns and rural communities across the country. He said the project reflects the Renewed Hope Agenda and demonstrates his government’s resolve to deliver the dividends of good governance to all Nigerians.
The President described the road as another fulfilled promise, noting that the transformation of the Federal Capital Territory mirrors the broader national development agenda of his administration.
“When we came into office, we made a solemn pledge to the Nigerian people. We promised not to allow governance to become a series of abandoned dreams and half-hearted efforts. We promised Renewed Hope.
“And today, as we stand on this newly constructed Collector Road C01, complete with its bridge, we are not just looking at the physical road; we are looking at a promise kept,” Tinubu said.
The President disclosed that work had already commenced on extending the corridor toward RR III and other parts of Abuja, explaining that the expansion would fully integrate the Institution and Research District into the Federal Capital Territory’s road network.
He noted that poor access roads, which had previously affected institutions such as the Body of Benchers, Nile University and Baze University, had now been addressed.
“When the Body of Benchers cried out to us during the Nigeria Law School Call to Bar ceremony last year for relief from traffic gridlock and lack of access, we listened.
“I told my Minister, the ‘Mr. Project’ of our time, Nyesom Wike, ‘We cannot have the legal luminaries of our nation navigating potholes to train our future advocates. We cannot have students arriving late to lectures because of a lack of a simple bridge.’
“We did not just talk about it. We approved it under emergency procurement. And today, just months later, here we are,” he said.
Earlier, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, attributed the success of the projects to President Tinubu’s decision to remove the FCT Administration from the Treasury Single Account (TSA), thereby improving access to resources.
Wike, who described infrastructure as the greatest enabler of economic prosperity, said the construction of the road generated hundreds of direct and indirect jobs for residents.
“We thank you for your support. We thank you for the resources made available by removing us from the TSA. That’s why today we are having so many projects to be commissioned,” he said.
Reaffirming President Tinubu’s promise to Nigerians, Wike assured that every district would benefit from the ongoing infrastructure drive.
“Every district will receive the attention of the present government. We have gone round so many districts, both in the city and the satellite towns. More will come,” Wike assured.
Beyond improving access to key educational and legal institutions, the Collector Road C01 is expected to ease traffic congestion and enhance the quality of life for residents, reinforcing the Tinubu administration’s commitment to closing infrastructure gaps.
