Insecurity : Over 500 Northern Christian Stakeholders Seek Divine Intervention

Over 500 Northern traditional Rulers and Church Leaders under the umbrella of Northern Christian Stakeholders have converged on Abuja to seek the face of God for Divine intervention to the security challenges facing the region.

The New Chairman of the Christian Northern Traditional Rulers and Tor Tiv, James Ayatse at the opening of the Northern Christian Stakeholders Assembly in Abuja called on Nigerians to work together to move the country forward.

Ayatse maintained that all Nigerians must pursue peace and unite against extremists causing disharmony in the country.

According to him, no other country will come to help Nigeria out of its challenges hence, all Northern Christians must be strategic in the fight against those waging war against the spread of the gospel.

The Traditional Ruler also stressed the need for the government to carry all ethnic groups in the north along in decision taking.

James Ayatse assured that the Forum of Christian Northern Traditional Rulers would partner other groups including religious institutions for freedom of religion and association in the region.

In his opening remarks, the senior pastor Dunamis International Gospel Center, Dr Paul Enenche expressed concern over incessant attacks which hinders Christains to gather and worship God freely in the 19 Northern States.

Dr Paul Enenche who described the situation as unacceptable appealed to Northern Christians to come together and form a strong united front to uphold Christianity in
Northern Nigeria.

He encouraged Christians to ensure humanitarian support and ensure coordinated efforts to support security agencies in combating insurgency.

Apostle Nuhu Kure while leading a prayer session tasked the Assembly to embrace dialogue with government, other religious bodies and the traditional institution to tackle the problem head on.

Apostle Kure urged Christian leaders not to allow anything to deter them from spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ with optimism as God is fighting their battle.

Convener of the Assembly and program coordinator, Stefanos Foundation, Mr Mark Lipdo expressed regret that kidnappings, killings and displacement of Christains have become the order of the day.

Mr Lipdo said the foundation had formally informed the international community about the activities of terrorists in Northern Nigeria.

He pledged that the foundation would not relent in providing relief materials to those affected, particularly those in Internally displaced centers as well as providing counselling to those in distress .

The assembly therefore resolved that Northern Christians must not allow their political differences stop them from fighting against extremists.

The Assembly also appealed to Christians and traditional leaders to mobilize their followers for full participation in the nation’s electoral system to enable them have a voice in governance.
