The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has released N7.61 billion to nine Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) for the payment of retirement benefits to 4,237 retired officers nationwide.

Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, disclosed this during a dialogue with retired officers, noting that the funds had already been transferred to the PFAs for direct payment into the beneficiaries’ individual accounts.

According to a statement by the National Public Relations Officer of the Service, Assistant Comptroller Abdullahi Maiwada, the payment reflects the NCS’s commitment to ensuring prompt settlement of retirees’ entitlements while strengthening confidence in the pension administration process. Access ARM Pension Managers received funds for 1,223 retirees, Premium Pension accounted for 2,268 beneficiaries, Leadway Pensions received payment for 403 retirees, TrustFund Pensions 156, FCMB Pensions 144, Veritas Glanvills Pensions 28, Norrenberger Pensions 11, and Fidelity Pension Managers four beneficiaries, bringing the total to 4,237 retirees.
Adeniyi reaffirmed that the welfare of retired officers remains a top priority for the Service, stressing that officers who dedicated years of service to the nation deserve dignity and timely payment of their benefits. He added that maintaining financial stability to meet obligations to both serving and retired personnel is essential, noting that investing in retirees’ welfare also boosts the confidence of officers still in active service.
The Comptroller-General explained that the dialogue was organised to encourage direct engagement with retirees, address their concerns, and reduce reliance on rumours and unofficial information. Members of the Customs Management Team, led by Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of Human Resources Development, DCG Tijjani Abe, assured participants that issues raised would be presented to the Board and Management for consideration. The retirees commended the initiative and urged the Service to make the engagement a regular exercise, as the Federal Government continues reviewing pension administration laws to further improve the welfare of pensioners across the country.
