Appeal Court Victory Boosts ADC, Democracy — David Mark

National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has welcomed the Court of Appeal judgment that nullified the earlier Federal High Court ruling which sought to deregister the party.

Mark described the appellate court’s decision as a victory for the ADC, Nigeria’s democracy, constitutionalism and the rule of law. According to him, the judgment has restored confidence in the judiciary and reaffirmed the courts’ role as the last hope of the common man and a protector of democratic values.
He said the ruling demonstrates that the judiciary can rise above pressure to safeguard democracy, political pluralism and the constitutional rights of citizens and political parties. He added that the attempt to deregister the ADC was an attack on Nigeria’s multiparty democracy and an effort to undermine the constitutional right of citizens to freely associate and participate in the political process.
The former Senate President also commended the Justices of the Court of Appeal for their courage, impartiality and commitment to justice, noting that the judgment has further strengthened public confidence in the country’s democratic institutions.
Mark urged ADC candidates, members and supporters nationwide to remain united, resolute and committed to the party’s mission of rescuing Nigeria through purposeful leadership and good governance. He said the legal victory should inspire party faithful to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He stressed that the party’s focus has now shifted fully to building a stronger, more united and people-oriented political platform capable of offering Nigerians a credible alternative in 2027, while reaffirming the ADC’s commitment to democracy, the rule of law, peaceful political engagement and policies that promote national unity, security, economic prosperity and justice for all.
