Business Mongul , Mercy Nwankwo for burial, August 21

The remains of Business mongul, late Mrs Mercy Nwankwo – Nee Obike of Isieke- Ibeku Umuahia North LGA of Abia State who died in March , 29th , 2026, at the University of Benin teaching hospital after a protracted illness will be laid to rest in her husband country home , Isieke- Ibeku , in Umuahia North Local government Area of Abia State .

Mrs Nwankwo , 65, a devoted Christian and community leader was dedicated in the service of God her creator and humanity as exemplified in her philanthropy to the vulnerable and less privileged.

In a statement by the eldest son of the deceased Mr Chukwudi Nwankwo described his late mother as a lover of peace ,care and joy giver, friendly, unassuming , who related with everyone regardless of class or status.and was committed to the development of her Community.

He said “I am consolled that my mother lived an exemplary and a fulfilled life, we will certainly miss my mother , she will be remembered by her legacies and those good virtue that she taught us as her children . May the Almighty God accept the repose of get soul. To God be the Glory. Adieu mummy”

In her tribute , the only surviving sister of the deceased, Mrs Kate Ihedinma Mbachu described her late senior sister as a rare gern with a heart of gold who will be missed by all around her.

She described her death as devastating, but prayed to God to give them especially her mother who is still alive to bear the irreparable loss.

Late Mercy Nwankwo until her sudden demise ,was a staunch member of the Catholic Women Organisation, CWO. She is survived by five children and her aged mother .
