Police Arrest Suspected Kidnap Kingpin, Recover Rifle in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Police Command has apprehended a 32-year-old suspected leader of a kidnapping syndicate, Sale Hassan, and recovered firearms in Akwanga Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the suspect, who hails from Rugan Hassan in Adudu community of Awe Local Government Area, was arrested following credible intelligence received from the Unit Commander of 38 Police Mobile Force, Akwanga.
According to the statement, the suspect was spotted in possession of a firearm within the area.
Acting on the intelligence, a team of Mobile Police operatives was promptly deployed, leading to his arrest.
A search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of one AK-49 rifle and four rounds of live 7.56 millimetre ammunition.
The Commissioner of Police, Shettima Jauro, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect along with the recovered exhibits to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation and further necessary action, including efforts to track down other members of the syndicate.
The Police Commissioner described the arrest as a significant breakthrough in the fight against criminality and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property. He also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing security operations.
